Councillor Li Preti’s strong commitment to multiculturalism is best witnessed through the dozens of ethnic groups with whom he is privileged to work and plan in order that some of their dreams might find fulfillment. Vital resources and partnerships have been discovered and creatively harnessed as these associations work to strengthen their communities and share their rich heritage. “Torontonians are richer in spirit and in understanding because of the contribution of music, dance, food, festivals and special cultural events,” states the Councillor. He has been instrumental in providing important business and academic links, often times unattainable by groups who lack the expertise and connections to access the needed resources.
Councillor Li Preti contributes toward bridge-building in this diverse community with his support of cultural groups, most of whom experience despair as they attempt to access the proper avenues and linkages for their groups within the complex systems of Canadian life. The skills and gifts which these groups embody in the areas of music, drama, art and sports are very prevalent in Peter’s mind. He continues to dream and plan for ways to encourage their creative expression and fulfillment by sharing these gifts in Jane/Finch and beyond.
