The opening of the New Senior Centre at Yorkgate Mall in 1997 has been a long and much needed project for our Seniors in this area. For many years the City has forgotten about the contributions that they have made to our community. Councillor Li Preti was able to convince the plaza owners to provide the community with 1000 square feet of space and now seniors enjoy a drop in place in the plaza where they could sit down for coffee or for a game of cards.
In an effort to raise funds for several non-profit groups councillor Li Preti worked with several key homeowners’ Associations to organize activities in the local parks and churches. Groups such as Lebanese Association and Iranian women were helped and encouraged to establish their own groups.

They organize bingo nights, picnics , excursions and other precious activities in order to keep our aging population active. Councillor Li Preti is often asked to participate and promote their activities.
