On The Arts
Among the passions which Peter enjoys and avidly supports are ‘the arts’. This is manifested in his efforts to have a Performing Arts Theatre created at Yorkwoods Library.
On Transportation
Dr. Li Preti expresses a strong desire to see the Spadina Subway extended northward from Downsview Station to serve the huge student population at York University and beyond.
On Sports
The Councillor’s name is very familiar to soccer enthusiasts in the northwest corner of Toronto. He was elected President of the Canadian National Soccer League as well as President of the Toronto Rockets. He has given leadership and support to both professional and amateur leagues, and has worked with great effort to improve and create playing fields, encouraging interest, participation and good sportsmanship
On Assessments
Dr. Li Preti was the first politician in the city to initiate a ‘large scale’ challenge to property assessments. This resulted in more than thirty-five hundred successful tax appeals within the ward.
On Seniors
Councillor Li Preti has always valued the involvement of seniors in the life of the city. He initiated a counseling group for seniors at 35 Shoreham Drive and at Arleta Manor to assist in preventing alcohol and drug abuse, and to address the issues of loneliness and isolation.
On Multiculturalism
Councillor Li Preti’s strong commitment to multiculturalism is best witnessed through the dozens of ethnic groups with whom he is privileged to work and plan in order that some of their dreams might find fulfillment.
On The Environment
Consistent with his fight to support these exciting initiatives, Councillor Li Preti has led the way in bringing about major improvements which serve to enhance the welcome which one receives at Jane and Finch, the gateway to our many interesting neighbourhoods.
